Pay-for-Production Services and Rates

Updated January 2017: Our standard Pay-for-Production rate is $250 Per Finished Hour (PFH). We also offer a 30% discount on series of 3 or more books. PFH rates are prorated by ACX. We do charge a minimum of $150 for anything under 30 minutes of retail ready audio (ie. children’s books, poetry, essays, etc.). We are always open to negotiation, so please don’t hesitate to CONTACT US.

Becky Doughty is also an Audible-Approved Narrator on ACX. This allows us the freedom to include in our services a Shared Royalties option to select books. The Shared Royalty rate offered by ACX is a 50-50 split of 40% royalty paid to both Narrator/Producer and Author/Rights Holder. Unfortunately, we only have a limited number of Shared Royalty Contract openings each year, and they fill up quickly.

 ACX offers three different options:

  • Shared Royalty Rates with Exclusive Distribution: Royalty rates are set by ACX.com at 40% of net sales received, shared equally between BraveHeart Audiobooks and the Rights Holder (20% to BHA, 20% to Rights Holder). The exclusive distribution refers to Audible.com holding exclusive distribution rights for a specified period of time (See Initial Distribution Period and Renewal Distribution info). For more information on royalty share payments, visit the ACX.com Royalty Share Information Page.
  • Pay-for-Production Rates with Exclusive Distribution: Royalty rates are set by ACX.com at 40% of net sales received, paid to the Rights Holder. This contract requires payment in full to the audiobook narrator/producer for the predetermined hourly rate (based on finished hours) before an audiobook will go to retail. The exclusive distribution refers to Audible.com holding exclusive distribution rights for a specified period of time. For more information, visit the ACX.com Pay-for-Production Exclusive Distribution Information Page.
  • Pay-for-Production Rates with NON-Exclusive Distribution: Royalty rates are set by ACX.com at 25% of net sales received, paid to the Rights Holder. This contract requires payment in full to the audiobook narrator/producer for the predetermined hourly rate (based on finished hours) before an audiobook will go to retail. The NON-exclusive distribution allows the Rights Holder to sell said produced audiobook through any audiobook retail source, but Audible still has distribution rights for a specified period of time. For more information, visit the ACX.com Pay-for-Production NON-Exclusive Distribution Information Page.
